James Saxton Founder and Co-Owner

 From very early in his childhood, Jim Saxton had a fascination with and talent for all things plant-related. After extensive and notable horticultural and design experience, Jim founded Saxton Nursery (originally in New Haven, Indiana), in 1975. His imagination, horticultural knowledge and sense of architecture collectively have earned Jim and the Saxton Group a reputation for landscape designs of excellence, quality and aesthetic applicability in the Midwest and beyond.
The vision and talent of Jim Saxton has guided the Saxton Group to a place of prominence in the landscape and nursery industries.

Michael Skelly Landscape Designer
A native of Indiana, Mike earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Purdue University. After a 12-year diverse professional career in Atlanta, Georgia, Mike returned to Indiana where he headed his own landscape design/build company for 3 years before joining the Saxton Group in 2002.
Jessica L. Johnson Intern Landscape Designer
Jessica Johnson, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, moved to the Fort Wayne area in 2001. Jessica, an Honors Graduate, earned an Associate Degree in Landscape Technology from Ivy Tech State College in 2005. She joined the Saxton’s Group in 2004.
Jim Williams Landscape Supervisor
Helping to turn imagination into practical reality is the primary role of Jim Williams. As Landscape Supervisor Jim bears the responsibility of effectively executing the unique landscape designs of the Saxton Group.
Under his expert guidance Saxton Group clients are assured that designs are faithfully, properly and responsibly executed.
Monica Coleman Nursery Manager
Hailing from the eastern shore of Maryland, Monica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of West Virginia. She is extensively trained, licensed and experienced in the many aspects of the science and art of nursery management.
Monica is responsible for ensuring that the plants from Saxton Nursery are of the utmost quality. Additionally, she is available to assist Saxton Nursery patrons with their plant selections and to assist them in solving and resolving their plant-related challenges.
